Mayalena Creche, in South Africa

Mayelana Creche is located in the community of Hlabekisa, in Mpumalanga which is adjacent to the world-renowned Kruger National Park.

Mayelana Creche was started in 2010 with 10 children. Today, there are 40 children who rely on this creche for their day-care and early childhood development. Most recently, Africa Foundation built two classrooms and secured the premises with fencing which provides protection for the children and the creche premises from community livestock, as well as passing traffic.

It is critical to provide adequate facilities where these young children can be cared for and taught in facilities that are conducive to their early childhood development and education. To this end, South Suez Charitable Trust will contribute towards the additional needs of this creche by building a kitchen where meals can be prepared and cooked in a safe and hygienic environment; and playground equipment to help with the children`s physical development.
